In this study, we docu\u00adment, to the best of our kno\u00adwled\u00adge, the first esti\u00adma\u00adtes of mar\u00adgi\u00adnal pro\u00adpen\u00adsity to con\u00adsu\u00adme (MPC) for Bra\u00adzil. The MPC is con\u00adsi\u00adde\u00adred the main vari\u00ada\u00adble used in macro\u00ade\u00adco\u00adno\u00admic models to cap\u00adtu\u00adre the hete\u00adro\u00adge\u00adneity of fami\u00adli\u00ades\u2019 spen\u00adding beha\u00advi\u00ador. Due to data limi\u00adta\u00adti\u00adons in the coun\u00adtry, the MPCs were obtai\u00adned by esti\u00adma\u00adting the inco\u00adme elas\u00adti\u00adci\u00adti\u00ades of con\u00adsump\u00adti\u00adon for each inco\u00adme group from the Con\u00adsu\u00admer Expen\u00addi\u00adtu\u00adre Sur\u00advey (POF) 2017\/18. On the one hand, the MPC found for the Bot\u00adtom 50%, 0.609, and for the Mid\u00addle 40%, 0.620, are rela\u00adti\u00advely high and do not dif\u00adfer sta\u00adtis\u00adti\u00adcally. Howe\u00adver, the\u00adse valu\u00ades fall sig\u00adni\u00adfi\u00adcan\u00adtly for the top of the pyra\u00admid, 0.483 for the Next 9% and 0.035 for the Top 1%, with the lat\u00adter not being sta\u00adtis\u00adti\u00adcally dif\u00adfe\u00adrent from zero. Finally, fis\u00adcal mul\u00adti\u00adpli\u00aders that con\u00adsi\u00adder the hete\u00adro\u00adge\u00adneity of MPCs were esti\u00adma\u00adted to assess the impact\u2019s direc\u00adti\u00adon of balan\u00adced-bud\u00adget redis\u00adtri\u00adbu\u00adti\u00adve poli\u00adci\u00ades on the eco\u00adnomy.
