The Rese­ar­ch Cen­ter on Macro­e­co­no­mics of Ine­qua­li­ti­es (Made), based at the Uni­ver­sity of São Pau­lo (FEA/USP), is dedi­ca­ted to unders­tan­ding and dis­cus­sing the eco­no­mic cau­ses and con­se­quen­ces of the mul­ti­ple facets of ine­qua­li­ti­es, focu­sing mainly on the Bra­zi­li­an reality.

Made acti­vely con­tri­bu­tes to aca­de­mic deba­te and public policy pro­po­sals, fos­te­ring dia­lo­gues betwe­en rese­ar­chers, policy­ma­kers, and repre­sen­ta­ti­ves of orga­ni­zed civil soci­ety. In doing so, it seeks to expand access to eco­no­mic kno­wled­ge from a cri­ti­cal pers­pec­ti­ve, the­o­re­ti­cally and empirically.

More­o­ver, Made col­la­bo­ra­tes with other nati­o­nal and inter­na­ti­o­nal rese­ar­ch cen­ters, wor­king to esta­blish the fight against ine­qua­li­ti­es as a cor­ners­to­ne of sta­te poli­ci­es in Bra­zil and around the world.

Rese­ar­chers at Made main­tain cons­tant con­tact with the aca­de­mic com­mu­nity, pre­sen­ting papers at nati­o­nal and inter­na­ti­o­nal con­fe­ren­ces, giving lec­tu­res, and par­ti­ci­pa­ting in deba­tes in Bra­zil and abro­ad. They are also enga­ged in rese­ar­ch ini­ti­a­ti­ves with orga­ni­za­ti­ons such as the Uni­ted Nati­ons (ILO, UNEP), the Inter­na­ti­o­nal Asso­ci­a­ti­on for Femi­nist Eco­no­mics (IAFFE), Oxfam, the Ins­ti­tu­te for New Eco­no­mic Thin­king (INET), the Ins­ti­tu­te for Appli­ed Eco­no­mic Rese­ar­ch (Ipea), among others. Addi­ti­o­nally, sin­ce its incep­ti­on, Made rese­ar­chers have con­tri­bu­ted publi­ca­ti­ons to aca­de­mic jour­nals such as the Cam­brid­ge Jour­nal of Eco­no­mics, Jour­nal of Evo­lu­ti­o­nary Eco­no­mics, Metro­e­co­no­mi­ca, Struc­tu­ral Chan­ge and Eco­no­mic Dyna­mics, Jour­nal of Eco­no­mic Beha­vi­or and Orga­ni­za­ti­on, Jour­nal of Post Key­ne­si­an Eco­no­mics, Eco­no­mic Mode­ling, Revi­ew of Key­ne­si­an Eco­no­mics, and Revi­ew of Poli­ti­cal Economy.
